Digital Waivers Guide

6 min read Standard+ plan Operations

Overview

Digital Waivers replace paper liability forms with electronic signatures. Players sign on their phone or at the kiosk before playing. Signed waivers are stored securely and searchable — no more filing cabinets or lost paperwork.

Plan required: Standard plan or higher.

Before You Start

  • Standard plan subscription active
  • Waiver text reviewed and approved by your legal team
  • Decided when to present the waiver (check-in, booking, or both)
  • Minor/guardian waiver requirements determined

Step-by-Step Setup

1

Enable Digital Waivers

Go to Dashboard → Manage → Waivers tab. Toggle "Require Waiver" to ON.

2

Enter Your Waiver Text

Paste your liability waiver, assumption of risk, and any additional terms. The system supports basic formatting (bold, paragraphs, lists).

3

Configure Signing Options

Choose whether to require a typed name, drawn signature, or both. Set whether minors need a parent/guardian signature.

4

Set Presentation Points

Choose when the waiver appears: at kiosk check-in, during online booking, or both. Players must accept before proceeding.

5

Test the Flow

Go through check-in as a player and verify the waiver appears, can be signed, and is recorded in your dashboard.

Tips & Best Practices

Get Legal Review

Have an attorney review your waiver text. Digital waivers are legally binding in all 50 states, but the language must be correct.

Minor Waivers

Always require parent/guardian signature for minors. This is a legal requirement in most jurisdictions.

Annual Renewal

Set waivers to expire annually. This ensures returning players review updated terms and protects you legally.

FAQ

Yes. Electronic signatures are legally valid under the ESIGN Act (federal) and UETA (state-level). PuttScores records timestamp, IP address, and browser metadata to strengthen legal validity.
If the waiver is required, the player cannot proceed to check-in or booking without signing. This is by design — it ensures 100% compliance. Staff can handle exceptions manually if needed.

Troubleshooting

IssueCauseFix
Signature pad not working Touch events not registering (screen protector or gloves) Remove screen protectors or use a stylus. Alternatively, switch to "Typed name" signature mode.
Waiver not appearing at check-in Feature not enabled or player already signed within valid period Check waiver settings in Manage. If "Skip for Returning" is enabled, the player may have a valid existing waiver.
